It isÌýrecommended that you make an appointment with a counselor if you have questions regarding course equivalency for prerequisites not taken at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ.ÌýÌýWhen meeting with a counselor, please complete the Nursing Counseling Appointment ChecklistÌýprior toÌýyour appointment.
Applications to the Nursing ProgramÌýare accepted through an online processÌýtwice a year:
- Dates:
- For Spring Semester: August 1st to 11:59pm on August 31st
- For Fall Semester: January 1stÌýto 11:59pm onÌýJanuary 31stÌý
If the application due date falls on a weekend, or a holiday, the application will be due through the online processÌýby 11:59pmÌýon the next business day.

Please make sure to include the following items as part of your online application packet:
- The Nursing Program Application
- The Supporting Documentation Form and paperworkÌýif applicable
- VCCCD transcript ordered from the my.vcccd.edu portal and delivered to yourself, if courses were attempted at Moorpark, Ventura, or Oxnard College. Refer to the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Admissions and Records Official Transcript Request webpage for directions on how to order this transcript and have it delivered to yourself. You will need to open or electronically-open this transcript and include it with your application materials. This opened VCCCD transcript is acceptable for the nursing application only. The opened orÌýre-opened transcript will be considered unofficial for any other purposes. Failure to submit transcripts with all courses attempted and grades posted will result in disqualification.Ìý
- ALL course descriptions fromÌýthe specific college catalog where the course was taken (prerequisites only) if outside the Ventura County Community College District. Please print the actual page from the college catalog of the semester and year you took the course. Do notÌý cut and paste onto a Word document, and do not use the course syllabus nor college schedules of classes description. College catalogs can be found on each college's website.
All official transcripts must be submitted to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Admissions and Records department PRIOR to submitting your online nursing application packet. Official electronic transmission from the institution or hard copy in the original sealed envelope is acceptable. This includes:
- High school transcripts if you have not earned a college degree
- Transcripts from colleges or universities where any courses were attempted, except for Moorpark, Ventura or Oxnard Colleges.
- International transcripts if applicable. International transcripts must be translated and evaluated: please refer to the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Counseling website for information on having international transcripts evaluated: www.moorparkcollege.edu/departments/students-services/counseling-office/transcript-information
- AP scores from College Board if the score is being used to fulfill a prerequisite course.Ìý

Applicants will be randomly invited via email to take the TEAS at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ on one of the available testing dates. If an applicant has not been invited to take the TEAS atÌý¾«¶«Ó°ÒµÌýbyÌýthe first testing date of the application period, they mustÌýtest elsewhere and pay ATI toÌýsend their results electronically to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ by 12:00 pm (noon) the last testing date of the application period. ÌýÌý

The ATI TEAS exam is a required part of the application process.
If invited, test dates are assigned, and may not be changed. Please ensure that your schedule is clear for ALL testing dates associated with your application period. The nursing program follows the ATI TEAS testing procedures; no late arrivals will be allowed entry to test.

Application Requirements
- At least 18 years old at the time of application to the nursing program
- High school graduation or General Education Development (GED) Exam with a passing score, or successful passage ofÌýthe California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE)
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or better in all college coursework.
- Minimum Core Biology (Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology) with a letter grade of C or better, taken withinÌýseven years of application date. Please note you may petition the recency requirement through the Health Science Counselor.
- Math M03 Intermediate Algebra or higher level math with a letter grade of C or higher, or two years of High School Algebra with a letterÌýgrade of B or higherÌýin both semestersÌý
- English Composition, with a letterÌýgrade of C or better.
- AÌýcollege level physical science is required for graduation if using a high school chemistry class to fulfill a prerequisite
- Applicants MUSTÌýcomplete the following prerequisite courses PRIORÌýto submitting an application:

Multi-Criteria Selection Process
Due to changes in legislation and the Education Code (Section 78261.5), the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Associate Degree Nursing Program has adopted a multi-criteria selection process for admission, combined with a random selection process. The multi-criteria selection process has been implemented from Fall 2009 and forward.
The multi-criteria selection process will be utilized to select the most qualified candidates for admission. In addition, all applicants meeting the minimum requirements have the opportunity to be randomly selected for admission. Students who have been unsuccessful in any nursing program are ONLY qualified for random selection. There is no waitlist.ÌýIf you have not been selected for admission within two years of application you will need to reapply.
The ATIÌýTEASÌýis a test that is required of all applicants to the nursing program. You may submit scores from a test taken up to twelve months prior to submitting your application to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, as long as the test was theÌýATI TEAS. If you have not taken the ATIÌýTEASÌýyet, then you must do so by noon on the final testing date at ¾«¶«Ó°ÒµÌýfor that application period. Please see the ATI TEASÌýInformationÌýsection of this website. It is the policy of the ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ Associate Degree Nursing Program to accept only the first TEAS exam taken in any 12 month period. This applies to theÌýATI TEAS. No exceptions to this policy will be made. Please be aware thatÌýthe ATI TEASÌýresult report indicates how many times the exam has been taken and how many days have passed since the prior attempt.
***Remember, if taken at another location,ÌýATI TEAS results must be electronically sent by ATI to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ by noon of the final testing date at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ. Printed results will not be accepted in any case. Please do not include printedÌýATI TEAS results with your application.Ìý
Sending your ATI TEAS results from other testing sites to ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ
If you:
- Took the ATI TEAS within twelve months prior to the application deadline, send your results through ATI by the application deadline. Printed results will not be accepted in any case.
If you:
- Take the ATI TEAS at a location other than ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ after the application deadline but prior to the final ATI TEAS testing date at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ, send your results through ATI by 12:00 noon of the final ATI TEAS testing date at ¾«¶«Ó°Òµ. Printed results will not be accepted in any case.
ÌýWhen reviewing the applications, the following points are considered:
- Earned academic degree (s) and professional certification, if any.
- Work or volunteer experience of 200 hours or moreÌýin healthcare within the past 2 years, if any.
- Life experiences or special circumstances, if any.
- ProficiencyÌýin languages other than English, if any; must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking the language
- Scores on the ATI TEASÌýtest
- GPA in prerequisite classes (repeated coursesÌýin prerequisites have a negative impact on admission calculation)
- Overall GPA
- Beginning with Fall 2023 applicants, completion of any of these optional elective courses taken with a regionally accredited college or university with a letter grade of C or better, if any: Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, Basic Pathophysiology. A pathophysiology course is expected to pertain to humans.Ìý
Denial of Admission
- Applicants who haveÌýfailed or withdrew failing from a Registered Nursing Program, and whose overall record makesÌýit unlikely she or he can successfully complete this program Ìý(example: two program withdrawals)
- Applicants whose record indicates deficiencies in health and safety such that the applicant is considered a risk to patients, themselves, or others.
